The Belmont Water Dog Run is BACK!
Our community run/walk is back for 2021!
We are proud to announce that we are able to host a live, in-person event for 2021. The City of Belmont and San Mateo County have shared their support in hosting an event this year. Given the current guidelines on reopening, which is constantly changing, we fully anticipate seeing you on October 9, 2021.
We are constantly monitoring communications from our local, state, and federal health officials with regard to COVID-19. We will follow all guidelines from our state and local government to host an event that is safe for our participants, community, and staff. This will include implementing COVID-19 safety measures for our event. We anticipate that our participants and staff will be fully vaccinated by race day or be able to prove a negative COVID-19 test within 72 hours of the event. Should on-going conditions with the pandemic worsen and we are forced to cancel the event, there will be no refunds. The Belmont Water Dog Run will provide options should we be faced with canceling the event.
2020 Participants who deferred to 2021
If you deferred your race entry due the pandemic canceling our in-person event in 2020, you will receive a unique code specific to you that will allow you to register for the same distance you registered for in 2020. Emails will be sent out on June 15th. If you can not find your email, please check your junk/spam folder. If you still can not find our communication, please email us and we will help you. If you would like to change your distance for any reason, please send us a message to firstname.lastname@example.org. We will assist you with any questions or concerns you might have.
2021 Event Details
We are putting this event together quickly. Like you, we are itching to get back to "normal". Due to the fluidity of the current situation, we felt it most important to provide a safe event to our community this year. With the complete support from the City of Belmont, we will have all distances this year. We will be changing the race courses for the 5k and the 10k slightly. Details on these changes will be provided closer to race day. The one mile Kids' run and the one mile FIDO run will still share the same course as they have in 2018 and 2019.
Given the short turn around for the event to take place this year, there are some changes to our "post-race" look. We are anticipating a full turnout. We are monitoring the current situation as it will determine what our post-race village will look like. Securing some vendors will not be as easy as it has been in years past because of the toll the pandemic has taken. Some vendors are no longer in business, raw materials are not as easily accessible, or we are dealing with a time/cost issue. We anticipate that our special touches like the pancake breakfast and medals will be back next year when we can move from our "Belmont Water Dog Run Lite" version to providing the same look and feel from years past. Right now, our main goal is to provide a safe event to our community that will show that we are stronger than ever and ready to support our community and students.
Every participant in the 5k, 10k, 1 mile kids' run, and the Virtual Run/Walk will receive a 2021 Belmont Water Dog Run race shirt.
Participants in the 5k and the 10k live event will have their event timed (chip time).
Participants in the 5k, 10k, 1 mile kids' run, and the FIDO mile will receive post race hydration and food.
Dogs who participate in the FIDO mile will receive a Belmont Water Dog Run bandana. Sorry human, this one is for the dogs.
If you would like to sponsor the event, we would PAWSitively love to talk to you. The Belmont Water Dog Run is a non-profit, 501(c)(3) organization. Beneficiaries of our event are the Belmont Redwood Shores School District and the Carlmont Academic Foundation. Sponsorships, no matter how little, help us provide to our students. Financial support helps us in providing grants to our applicants. In-kind sponsorships, such as food donations, water donations, SWAG donations, help too. WE NEED VOLUNTEERS! Race Day is not successful without the support of our volunteers. We will need assistance the day before the event for packet pickup and for race day set up. We will also need volunteers on race morning at the start line, on the course, the finish line, and cleanup. We will be setting up our volunteer positions in the coming weeks.
